studio persica is an ethical, biodiversity conscious, and environmentally pro-active practice working across landscape and object. Your project, however big or small, has a pivotal part to play in our joint responsibility and honour to safeguard the environment for now and for the future.
we design landscapes. we also spend time researching, experimenting, making and reflecting - striving to work at the vanguard of ethical approaches to:
materials - be it recycling, reuse or new/traditional technologies of making, we will lead you towards a current understanding of responsible use of finite resources;
water - we consider how it can be conserved, how it can be channelled through your space and slowed to provide irrigation, how it needs to be managed with increasing rainfall, and how it can equally provide joy. this includes SuDS and rain gardens, permeable surfacing, beautiful water objects and 'right plant, right place'.
planting - plants of all forms are beautiful, and they should be chosen to best suit their location, soil, climate, the pervading character of place, and of course your preference. planting can also do so much more - carbon sequestration, shade, shelter, habitat, food, medicine. All of these needs should be considered in a project.
processes of making - how something is made, how it is delivered, and what it is needed for are all considerations in a project. Only by questioning assumptions can we prioritise processes and outcomes which support us and the wider landscape. If something is truly needed, it should be valued from ideation to installation.
processes of doing - we run our company as we run our projects - keeping waste to a minimum, using materials wisely, and putting energy into the places that matter.
